Valentino Fall 2017 Couture

the fall 2017 valentino couture collection was like going to church. actually designer pierpaolo piccioli was inspired by the roman catholic church and it’s rituals. he drew parallels to the rigor of the church and the rigor of couture. you can see the inspiration of the church in the shapes and the details.

it felt like sunday morning when the show started. it’s the collection of the season everyone is talking about, and it now cements pierpaolo as the golden child (his partner recently went to dior, so it’s been a little up in the air how the collections would unfold with this change). there was a feeling in the air, something that felt like an anointing.

i went to church my whole life and all i have to say is when i saw that beautiful pink dress with the ruffle wrapped around the bodice i said “hallelujah!” enjoy!
