as you all know i was just in the hamptons. i spent a few days in east hampton. i loved driving around and looking at houses. one of my favorite streets was lily pond lane. harry and laura slatkin live in the area and their hamptons home is featured in jennifer ash rudicks new book out east.

i guess it’s no surprise i’m completely enthralled with the slatkin’s home- it’s all blue and white, and it’s the kind of blue and white i like. blue and white checks, paisleys, embroideries and florals are dominant, and there’s an abundance of blue and white porcelain sprinkled all around. but truly what makes the house so special are the details. look at all the applications of the fabrics, the borders, the slipcovers and the trims. i love all the lamp shades, all the wicker and all the chinoiserie.

harry’s brother, howard slatkin, decorated the house. howard is a friend and a design genius, he’s also one of the loveliest people i know.

thank you jennifer for sharing this house with me, thank you harry and laura for your style and elegance, and thank you howard for making everything not only blue and white, but making it all the pure definition of beautiful.
