i came across this great picture of model christy turlington wearing a gingham headscarf and a pretty summer dress the other day. the picture was from a vogue editorial, photographed by the great arthur elgort, back in december 1992. the picture just said summer to me and i posted it on my instagram to celebrate the beginning the season-  i love this time of year.

i went back to my archives of vogue and found all the images in the story. the editorial is set in portofino, italy, and tells the story of summer life and style in italy. the mix of feminine dresses with checks, stripes, espadrilles, head scarfs, and straw totes would look just as good today (can’t believe this shoot was 25 years ago..)

i love a summer story, especially when it tells the story of timeless beauty and classic style!
