Adler and Elkins

i loved spending time in lake forest this past weekend as the honorary chair of the lake forest show house.

shelley johnstone and her lovely family hosted me and we had the best time. we drove around for hours looking at all the beautiful and historic architecture in lake forest. i saw so many david adler houses. i was in awe and so inspired. i will treasure my time there.

one of most famous houses in lake forest is the reed house designed by mr. adler and interior design by frances elkins. did you know adler and elkins were brother and sister? talk about a dynamic duo. they did 15 houses together.

reed house is extraordinary. love the grand staircase in the entry with a moroccan stair runner, the dining room with hand painted chinoiserie wall paper, the library with hermes leather walls and the guest bedroom with twin anglo indian canopy beds. so chic, i could move right in.

thought i would share some images of reed house. there’s nothing quite like and adler house. enjoy!
