i think you are all realizing i’m into cobalt blue right now. there’s just something about blue, and there’s really something special about cobalt blue. it’s a classic color, but feels really modern, and right now it feels really fresh.

bunny mellon’s upper east side dining room is the perfect example of this. the townhouse was built in 1965 and has all the formal attributes of an 11,000 square foot upper east side home. it’s formal, traditional and refined, however the cross hatch cobalt blue painted dining gives the house a little edge.

the room was originally designed by john fowler. i’m sure at the time the color and the detail was considered quite adventurous. today it’s simply classic.  

can’t put my finger on it, but there is just something about cobalt. it’s both classic and cool!
