i received the new architectural digest the other day (the new AD logo is great). i was absolutely smitten with the home of marie anne oudejans in india/ take a tour here. i have looked at it over and over more than i can admit. bravo to AD for giving all of us something so beautiful and so inspiring.
marie, a former fashion designer (she designed the line tocca), moved to india 6 years ago on a strangers suggestion and took up residence in a one bedroom ground floor apartment at the hotel narain niwas palace in jaipur. she somehow stumbled into interior design, and thank goodness she did. she has designed the bar palladio jaipur and iconic mumbai outpost of the gem palace. both sensational and inspiring spaces.
her apartment is so grand and glamorous, but in may ways very simple- it’s all about red and blue, lots of stripes, hand painted trims and details, gilt mirrors, white lacquered consoles, bell jar lanterns and daybeds galore.
it might be simple, but it’s not easy creating something this beautiful, you have to have a lot of style!
thanks again AD, this is the most inspiring interior i’ve seen in a very long time.
