i just got back from birmingham, alabama. the last time i was in birmingham was probably 20 years ago. such a charming and beautiful place. i could have spent endless amounts of time driving around looking at homes and architecture. also, so many great stores and outdoor shopping areas in the mountain brook area.
one of the highlights of my trip was having brunch at jimmy laughlin and jacob dorsett’s home in historic forest park. the original bugalow was built in 1923. jimmy, an architect at bill ingram architects, and jacob renovated the house several years ago, southern living has featured the house/ see here.
sometimes, not often, you just fall in love with a house. there is something to say for white and simple, clean and cool, comfortable and cozy. this birmingham bungalow is so special, i especially love the front porch and it’s stripes. J and J are in their 20’s, refreshing to see young guys with such great style.
thanks jimmy and jacob for your hospitaility and kindness, i cannot wait to visit again soon!
