Jacqueline de Ribes

there are very few fashion icons still alive today, one that remains is jacqueline de ribes. jacqueline was born a french aristocrat and has been called “the last queen of paris,” but her love of fashion is really what she is known for. her style and couture wardrobe will be honored and on display this fall at the met.

jacqueline was a muse to yves saint laurent and valentino, and was one of truman capote’s “swans,” but she is best known for her profile and her long neck…. it’s rumored that alexa carrington’s (joan collins) look on dynasty was modeled after jacqueline…i don’t know about you, but i loved alexa carrington and i think i’m going to love seeing over 1000 pieces of de ribes’ haute couture collection on display at the met.

jacqueline de ribes: The Art of Style will go on view at the metropolitan museum of art november 19th and run through february 21.
