i really cannot think of a better christmas present than the gift of Miles Redd. it’s two fold- a special gift given to me by Miles participating in the designer series “MDS Interviews” and now this gift i get to share with all of you!
i’m especially thrilled about this interview. it might be because Miles and I are around the same age, or that we both have southern roots, maybe it’s that we are both inspired by Oscar de la Renta or that we both love old school glamour with a twist. however, i think the real reason is that i don’t know anyone more chic, glamorous or stylish, more importantly, anyone so kind!
what an amazing and inspiring talent! i’m taking all this in because i know he is going to be considered one of the greats. i have been following his work for years- every project he does remains timeless, feels effortless and defines classic american design with a modern, elegant and refined hand. as you can tell i’m probably his biggest fan!
Miles moved to nyc to study film then went on to work for antiques dealer John Rosselli after graduation. later he was hired by John’s wife, interior decorator Bunny Williams, as a shopper and design assistant. i find all this so interesting because as you know i’m such an admirer of both john and bunny. it’s kind of ironic that miles’ “MDS Interview” is coming directly after Bunny’s- all is meant to be!
Miles just recently published his first book, appropriately called The Big Book of Chic! and let me tell you it’s more than chic- it’s chic, glamorous and stylish! it was also my gift of choice to give for the holidays- the gift of miles continues!
Dear Miles- i can’t thank you enough for the participating in “MDS Interviews”, what a perfect christmas gift to give, get and receive! and here’s to doors and lampshades! enjoy!
