SUMMER NEWS

I’ve loved being in newport this week. such a special place. i’ve been intrigued and inspired by all the shingled houses, the water, the endless porches, the big green lawns, american flags blowing in the gusty winds and everyone running around in stripes-  it’s my kind of place!

…and if you want to go somewhere great over the summer, i have news for you, newport’s the place.

love this editorial from vogue from a few years ago and some interiors by tom scheerer. they feel like newport, the perfect place to spend summer.

COASTAL VIBES

I’m feeling very coastal right now and no one does coastal style better than steven gambrel. a project of his in bridgehampton is in the new elle decor.

it’s signature steven- lots of layers, loads of color, paint on paint, great lighting, perfect millwork, undeniable textures and rich finishes. you would think with all of this going on it would feel fussy, it isn’t- it looks casual, comfortable and oh so coastal.

when you visit a coastal retreat you always want to come in through the back or the side entrance…it’s easy and just feels right. i thought i’d take you on a tour of this coastal project by entering through the back door…enjoy!!

CLIFF WALKING

i’m in newport, rhode island installing this years coastal living idea house. newport is a magical town. its old with a lot of history. it also is very glamorous with a rich history of beautiful and grand architecture.

the years house is on the water. across the way and in viewing is the famous row of mansions that newport is most known for. some of the homes include the vanderbilts homes, the breakers, marble house, rosecliff, and the elms.

everyday on the way to the house i pass these homes and the ocean they sit along. there is a 3.5 mile path called the cliff walk that you can walk along and see these famous homes and take in the beauty of newport. the coolest thing is across the way you can also see our little coastal living idea house.

i took the walk last night at around sunset. it was pretty magical.
