i thought the new Oscar de la renta pre-fall 2017 collection was really pretty. the peasant blouses belted worn with tulip skirts and satin slides felt both fresh and ladylike. the prints and embroideries were not only pretty, they were authentic and innovative.
the collection was a bit of a transition for the house. peter copping, whom i love, has moved on and the designers of monse will be debuting their first collection for oscar in the fall.
in the meantime the in-house team designed this collection drawing inspiration from images of native peruvians, photograpahed by mario testino, that were apart of the queen sophia spanish institute exhibit in 2013 and 2014. the details and silhouettes are obviously paired down a bit so they are more understandable and wearable, but you can see the influences.
i think oscar would have really liked this collection, the silhouettes are not only pretty, they tell a story and have a soul.
