this is basically a reprint of a book that was published 20 years ago by the same name, but has a lot more details to support the beautiful rooms and imagery. the book lays out renzo’s process from initial concepting, sketching, to collaborating with artists and craftsman, to the execution.
i have been a fan of renzo’s work ever since i first visited the caryle in nyc and sat in the kilim clad gallery that sits betweeen the bar and the restaurant. the room is sexy, glamorous and timeless, and i can’t think of anytime i have been in nyc and not stopped in to have a club sandwich and take in all of the details.
i’m working on a very exciting new project in the mid west and renzo’s work is inspiring my plans. there will be hand painted scenes, treillage work, and upholstered walls. there will be layers and layers of fabrics and patterns with trims.
to celebrate renzo and his newest roomscapes i thought i’d share a few of my favorite rooms he designed. just look at this roster of clients- the countess brandolini d’adda, marella agnelli, valentino and lee radziwill.
when this chic set picked their designer of course they picked renzo, he’s the best!
