New Years Eve 2015

HAVE A BALL

happy new year everyone! i hope everyone has big plans tonight and that you celebrate not only the new yew year, but also all of your accomplishments in 2015. it’s been an amazing year, and tonight calls for having a ball!

truman capote threw the famous black and white ball back in 1968 at the plaza hotel. the masquerade ball honored the washington post editor katharine graham (rumor has it he didn’t want throw the party for himself because it would have seemed vulgar by his society friends and he couldn’t pick from his famous “swans” because feelings would have been hurt, everyone was a bit baffled on why katharine was the guest of honor, it just added to the mystic of the evening). the ball is by far the most talked about party that has ever been thrown.

a few fun facts about the black and white ball, truman was inspired by the ascot scene from the movie my fair lady in which the women were all dressed in black and white and the nights menu that was served at midnight, consisted of scrambled eggs, sausages, biscuits, chicken hash and spaghetti and meatballs- yum! and there were 450 bottles of taittinger champagne consumed.

wishing all you a lot of fun tonight, i hope it will be as memorable as the black and white ball and maybe you’ll even have a few biscuits! happy new year!
