tucked back in my closet following the rows of white, blue, blue and white striped, chambray and military shirts are a few plaid shirts. a few red tartans, a couple buffalo checks and several black watch plaids, both cotton and flannel versions of each. to be honest they don’t get pulled out often except for this time of year and right now it’s time for plaid.

the line up lately has been the red tartans with chinos and chunky cardigans, the buffalo checks with grey sweatshirts and denim jackets and the black watch plaids with navy blazers and a couple times with a tie. i have several holiday parties this week and i’m thinking not only will my plaid shirts be out and about so will my cashmere plaid scarves, like these from jcrew.

plaid has always been my go to for festive holiday attire, however, right now it’s also a huge trend. the pre-fall 2013 chanel collection that was just presented a week ago was all about plaid and who can forget the fabulous fall 2012 ralph lauren collection based around dowtown abbey inspired plaids.

we all have some plaid, pull it out! it’s festive, fun and right now just right! it’s that time of year- get mad for plaid! i am!
