i love blue- welcome to a blue heaven!
ever since i saw the renowned interior designer steven gambrel’s home in sag harbor in the world of interiors a few years ago it’s been a favorite. to my delight, when i got my the book steven gambrel time & place, there were new images of the gorgeous property- heaven!
a main house, a guest house and a stone barn became a 3 year long project for steven. everything done with careful respect for the location and with great attention to detail. the main house expanded with the addition of a large wing to allow for proper entertaining, the guest house was redesigned to emulate a typical circa 1800 sag harbor “half house” and the stone auxiliary, loosely based on early agrarian barns, became an unexpected pavilion for dinner parties.
there is so much i love about the house- i love the authentic shingled facade, the stone work, the wide plank pine floors, the beautiful detailed moldings, the wide planked walls, the vaulted beamed ceilings, the artful arrangement of furniture, the perfect mix of antiques, the industrial lighting throughout- casual, comfortable, chic- so much to love!
what i love most is the use of blue– my favorite color! the range of shades- contrasting trims, contrasting finishes! the range of details- blue fabrics, prints and patterns! i’m in love!
welcome to steven gambrel’s sag harbor! enjoy little taste of heaven- blue heaven!
